The Marri tree is a bloodwood native of Western Australia and is widely distributed in the south-west of the region where it grows in both the karri and jarrah forests due to its adaptability. The Marri timber is high in gum resulting in low recovery rate of first grade timber.
The Marri timber’s Janka hardness rating sits at 7.1KN which reduces its appeal for construction applications but doesn’t rule it out for interior applications such as furniture crafting.
It is a predominantly creamy yellow hardwood with pale brown tones which come off as honey coloured. This plus it’s unique vein structure, straight grain and predominant pin holes make it a particularly rustically enchanting choice for hardwood timber flooring as well as modern household furniture.
Marri timber floorboards are available at Simply Bamboo, you timber flooring supplier in Perth.
